Hello Bloggers! This is my first ever blogsite which aims to introduce to you my homeland Zamboanga City which is known to be the Asia's Latin City.

This blog talks about the culture, tradition, people and especially the unique language of Zamboanga City which is known as Chavacano (Broken Spanish) a language which is considered to be the oldest creole language in the world.

Todays post will give you a simple tour on some of the tourist attraction in Zamboanga City which I had visited most of the time during my childhood days aat Zamboanga.

Will start with the Fortaleza Del Pilar or Fort Pilar :)

After 5 years of being an alien in my own homeland, It was still very frrsh in my cognitive mind that this landmark was one of the most holy places at Zamboanga City. I still remember that when someone in our family ceebrate his/her birthday we always make it sure that we did a visit at Fortaleza and pray as well.
For the future visitor at Fortaleza, I will assure you that you will feel the solemnity of the place that will make you eagerness to pray boost . You will also enjoy the nice landscapes and statues of saints displayes within the premise of the whole fortaleza.
So, Come and Enjoy the Fortaleza del Pilar:)

Next up will be the Vintas of Zamboanga

The colorful vintas of Zamboanga became the famous attraction of my hometown. This colorful sail boats had colorful flags that was designed by the Maranao tribs in Zamboanga but during this time colorful vintas also became a main attraction durin the celebration of Zamboanga Fiesta Pilar which always been commemorated in every october month as a way of giving thanks and praise to Santa Pilar.

Vina Racing became part of each year's celebration of Fiesta Pilar and definitely increased the numbers of tourists.

Surely, Zamboanga City has more cool stuffs to offer not only for its tourist destination but also for its diverse culture, language, foods, and others.

Buenas Dias Chavacanos!

Buenas DIAS! Here's your Maestro Nikko and my blog for today will be about the two CHAVACANO terms used daily:


"Buenas Dias" (Good Day)

• Is the most commonly used Chavacano word everyday. Wherever the Chavacanos are as long as they met someone they know along the way "BUENAS DIAS" is the first word that comes out of their mouth. This word is very common to all Chavacanos but very Important and greatly shows concern and affections to their " Fellow Chavacanos".

Sample Sentence

Scenario: A Teacher in the Classroom

• BUENAS DIAS maga bata pavor lebanta todo para na reso. 

Translation: Good day students please all stand for the prayer.

"Chene tu Kwidaw" (Take Care)

• Is one of the most economical terms in Chavacano daily expressions that shows caring and sweetness to their love ones . This is a very typical to Chavacano families especially when a father is leaving for work and  whentimes that children are going to live for school.

Sample Sentence

Scenario: A child leaves the house for school.

• " Iho, Por pavor CHENE TU KWIDAW na eskwela y estudia buenamente.

Translation:  "Son please take care at school and study well".

Bienvenidos! Aqui na Este El Chavacano

After 8 years for being away from own homeland which is known to be the "Asia's Latin city" no other than Zamboanga City. Here's my new and effective avenue towards introducing the native language of Zamboanga City which is known as " CHAVACANO". 

Well, I know that you might become interested and curious to know about is the history of chavacano language that's why I wanted to share this short information to you. The Spanish greatly influence the chavacano de Zamboanga, the word Chavacano was actually derived from spanish meaning "poor taste". Also the Chavacano language was nown for being the only spanish based creole in Asia which had survived for almost 400 years making it as the oldest creole languages in the world.

This site is all about learning the basic Chavacano de Zamboanga phrases. Este el Chavacano is one of the many blog sites designed for chavacano language enthusiasts that discusses chavacano itself, chavacano grammar and vocabulary and many more cool stuffs.
